Greening and Urban Gardening Project in the R1 Klybeck
Goal
Our goal is to implement a model project that shows how even highly exposed, sun- exposed areas on the fourth floor of a former industrial building can be sustainably designed. Greenery and urban gardening will be used to create a pleasant microclimate and significantly improve the quality of the space. At the same time, we want to demonstrate how temporary use spaces can be upgraded and used in a variety of ways through ecological design. The first phase of the project involves greening and shading the terraces to create a basis for a stable microclimate. Building on this, we want to integrate urban gardening elements in a second phase to promote local food production and open up new possibilities for use.
In the long term, the project should serve as inspiration for further temporary uses and show how sustainable urban development can also be implemented in small spaces.
